Which edition of Dictionary of the Khazars? It has this gimmicky thing where there's a 'male' version and a 'female' version, which is aggravating, and I tracked them down and read them both-- they differ by one sentence. The astonishing thing is that it does turn out to be an important sentence, and I like the female version substantially better.
