I also sort-of inherited some books (it was one of those "here are the books, everyone take any you would like" things) from my bibliophile grandfather, and have been reading them gradually; it was always a minor source of frustration to both of us that we were such passionate readers but had so little in common in terms of books we enjoyed. But here and now I can read some of his collection, and think about what he might have thought of them, and I am definitely valuing that.
