Ah, fandom

I went to tell [livejournal.com profile] dlandon how to recognize me at WorldCon, but I'm afraid she'll just have to use my webpage pics as a reference.

"I'll be the one with long brownish hair...no, no, that won't work...I'll be the pale one...no, not unique either...sometimes I'll be with a big fat guy...uh, no...." Yeah. If you're looking for me at WorldCon, I really do look like my pictures, only, y'know, mobile. Also, I'll be wearing a skirt or a dress most days, because I like 'em.

(Sometimes I get to pretend I'm not really that pale around here, because I run into pale people every day. Outside my own home, even. Then Scott made fun of me in my bridesmaid dress because, and I quote, "Aaaacghk, Risstopher, I can see your veins! Go eat some chocolate!" Sigh.)

I am relying on the goodness of people who know other people to point familiar faces out and offer introductions.

I am being a lazygit about it. :-)

Or should I be more pro-active and post a picture of myself so anyone who wants to say hi will be able to spot me among the mass?

Hee! I finally figured out a buncha years ago that telling on-line friends to look around a con for a middle-aged woman with a long, scruffy light brown braid and glasses just was not optimal for the finding thereof! So I wear my three stooges t-shirt on meet-days, and so far there have been very few middle-aged, scruffy-braid, glasses women wandering around in stooge shirts besides me, and it works! (Or as Curly sez, Hey, it woiks!)

I may decide on a first-day outfit in advance. This may be a plan. It seems kinda girly to me, but as long as I don't call [livejournal.com profile] porphyrin to make sure we match, I think it'll be fine.

Why chocolate?

I mean, any excuse to eat chocolate. And I've got the blue veins showing through a lot. I feel sometimes like I'm one of freaking Anne Rice's vampires, but without good hair and with better dialogue.

I think it was the chocolate = brown, Mris = not brown theory.

Go with it, if you like.

Y'all should really set up some meeting places/times. Speaking from personal experience, it's possible to know perfectly well what someone else looks like and yet still keep missing them - sometimes narrowly - among the Teeming Masses.

Y'all? I thought you would be there.

Not sure how I would do that, actually. It sounds horribly complicated to say "I hand code every entry," but I do, and it's not complicated at all. There's a template, and I use html markup, and voila.

Sadly I won't be at Wordcon, so I won't be able to play "Spot The Mrissa" with everyone else. I expect a large write up of the Con afterward. Pretty Please?

[identity profile] mrissa.livejournal.com 2004-08-26 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, of course!

You can play Spot The Mrissa much more easily in Mrissa Blinds like Fat Lorenzo's.
