"I've been dreaming in full color"

I really like both what [livejournal.com profile] timprov says in his blog post here and the song and video he's talking about in it. I can't watch the vid again, though; we didn't have enough snowy winter for me this year, and I miss the Minneapolis winter it shows too much. Next year. I'll get through to next year. In the meantime, go read about things that have nothing to do with snow, winter, or Minneapolis.

Even though we didn't have much of a winter this year, we still had at least a couple of weeks of what you call "really intense cold." I guess winter is relative. Personally I find winter to be dead and depressive. The skies are generally grey and overcast here, the trees and bushes look dead, and while the snow is beautiful when it first falls it quickly becomes dirty and slushy. (We don't salt the roads here, but sand them, and it accumulates.) My dislike of winter has less to do with the cold, the snow shovelling, and the eleventy-four layers of clothing one has to wear just to get the mail, but with the bleakness of it all. It's amazing how much my mood lifts with spring - I go from being really depressed to just mildly depressed almost overnight!

I know several people who react like that. It's just not how I react at all.

That's because you're a Valkyrie.
