"I've been dreaming in full color"

I really like both what [livejournal.com profile] timprov says in his blog post here and the song and video he's talking about in it. I can't watch the vid again, though; we didn't have enough snowy winter for me this year, and I miss the Minneapolis winter it shows too much. Next year. I'll get through to next year. In the meantime, go read about things that have nothing to do with snow, winter, or Minneapolis.

What is wrong with Ottawa?

Oh, so many things. We have a lot of good places to eat lots of neat stuff, and if I ever go I'll wish I could at least take Candy Mountain with me (wall-to-wall candy displays, giant racks of colour-sorted jellybeans, pink and purple walls, a disco ball, 80s music all the time, employees allowed to have tattoos and weird hair colours), but for some reason nobody has thought to put in a decent creperie anywhere.

We have a couple of places that sort of do crepes -- Cora's will fill them with some run-of-the-mill ham and cheese breakfast stuff, Stella Luna wants to presoak them in caramel sauce and wrap them around a hunk of really bargain-basement ice cream the size of your head, Pure Gelato has some good ideas that don't really work in practical application but everyone is there for the gelato anyway so nobody cares, and that one place in South Keys claims to do crepes but really does pancakes wrapped around some salad.

Sometimes my friends get all excited about the idea of going for crepes and I just look at them like they're crazy, because really, they must be if they're excited by these prospects.

Boo! There are some good crepe options in Boston and environs; clearly you need to come visit.

(I like Vancouver for a bunch of reasons. Part of it is that it feels like home since it has the PNW climate I got used to when living near Ft. Lewis, but a lot of it is just that it's a really neat city.)

If I ever win the lottery, I will totally come visit you. It would be fun! :D

I had that feeling when I visited Chicago, but mostly because of the architecture downtown. It was like somebody stuck a bay off the side of Ottawa. It was weird cognitive dissonance but also really comforting! I felt very at home there. :)

I've enjoyed everything I've tried at Mr. Crepe in Davis Square. I haven't been to Arrow Street Crepes since they moved into Canteen, but they had a pretty good selection as well.
