Hello again, Dreamwidth

So people are leaving lj, and I see why. But my lj has been a mirror site for my blog (www.marissalingen.com/blog/ !) for awhile now, so I guess my question is: how many of you only read blogs on Dreamdwidth? (That is, not independent blogs?) My sense of the matter is that the community that used to exist on lj has not reconstituted itself on dw, so I would like to know how much point there is to mirroring my blog on dw rather than just going on with the blog I already have.

Reading is a different question; I have been reading my dw circle and intend to continue doing so. So this is not a question of will I see you. It's whether you will see me.

I don't follow outside blogs - it's too hard to keep up.

Same goes for me: but I think there is a way one can create a blog feed to DW?

I only read blogs on LJ or DW - that has the advantage of LJ/DW does the 'is there new content?' checking for me. Without that, there are too many blogs that I'm interested in where the updates are too sporadic. If I try to read them directly, I either stop because I'm getting too many 'no new content' hits, or because there's too much new content when I get around to checking.

Since your blog has an easily findable RSS feed, it's trivial to set up a feed to DW. I can do it in about a minute. Want me to?

I prefer native crossposts to a feed, though that's mostly because I remember some amazing breakages in the old LJ feed system.

Were it me, I'd probably do the crossposting just so I could get comment emails....

No problem!

One way to deal with the 'will people find it' might be to put a pointer to it in other places they might find?

I mostly read wordpress sites when I can subscribe to a notification email, and otherwise read DW/LJ. (It won't be LJ anymore after this month, though.)

I read DW only, and will always follow links to blogs. No RSS for me.

Just Dreamwidth, I'm afraid. Internet time has gotten a bit sporadic over here.

I answered this on LJ, but: I tend to read independent blogs less often than I read my DW circle. I like the cross posting better than the RSS feed, for the sake of comments, but it's not a major difference.

I check LJ about once a week, when I remember. I'd love to see your book posts here. And I'd comment, too.

As you've no doubt noticed, I'm only sporadically on DW and LJ (though maybe not LJ anymore, I haven't decided yet). When I am here, though, I'd enjoy seeing your posts over here! I'm more likely to comment on a DW post than on your own blog.
