Three rejections, one hold request. Forgot to say this yesterday.

Feel free to drop any and all discussions with me stemming from the last few days or going into the next few days. I will not be offended. I'm feeling pretty mental just now, so if you think I'm pretty mental, too, you're not alone. porphyrin even confirmed it. Well, that's not quite what she said. Still.

What's a hold request?

Editorbeing says, "I like this story, but I don't know for sure if we're going to have room for it in the next few issues. Do you mind if I hang on for further consideration?" Some places just don't do it. Some do. The way I understand it, you can always write to them and say, "Oh, sorry, not willing to wait," but this market is far, far below my threshold for telling communicative editors where they can stick it (in an envelope back to me, naturally...).
