This one was inspired by my grandmother, though it isn't the sort of story she'll ever probably read or enjoy. When old farm families and artificial intelligence collide...or proliferate....

Knowing you even a little, I really should have seen where that was headed. I am a fast enough reader and this story is short enough that by the time I clocked it, it was happening. But I am tempted to say "Most Marissa thing ever" and "Dammit you made me tear up about a robot again" and well... thanks.

I did it to my beta reader too, he was all braced for cynicism about our corporate world and got...me instead. And he said, "I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. BECAUSE IT'S YOU."
