You might be interested in A Year in the Life of a Shinto Shrine by John K. Nelson, if you're looking more for the lived experience of Shinto. It's written from an outsider's perspective, but it's the only book I've found in English that really gave me any sense of the routine practice, as opposed to the history and such.
