mrissa: (question)

Does anybody want a bunch of Mason jars? We keep washing out the ones we finish and then not using them to can anything, or to drink out of, or for any other useful purpose. As usual, Minneapolis-area folks get first dibs. ([livejournal.com profile] jenett, [livejournal.com profile] pentacon: I haven't forgotten that I have books to give each of you. I'll e-mail you tonight if I manage to dig out from under stories for long enough to take a hard look at scheduling.) Some of them are small and some mid-size. Almost none are large.

Also, does anybody want a bunch of Scandinavian stamps? My grandfather was finding them for [livejournal.com profile] yhlee, but she said she has enough, and he was getting a kick out of finding them, so I have a couple of little packets of them. These probably don't have the local restriction, because they will cost me 37c to mail in the US and only 60c to mail abroad.

I will gladly set them aside for him if he wants to accumulate these.

If you do homemade canning, your jam or pickles or whatever go in a Mason jar. It's a jam jar, basically, that can be resealed if you buy new accoutrements for doing that sort of thing.

We occasionally contemplate taking up sauce- and jam-making, but I think that's a project that would have to wait until [livejournal.com profile] timprov is feeling better, if then.

Do you want stamps in general? My grandfather knows a place where they're a penny apiece, and he likes being sent on errands for my stamp-collecting friends. Seriously, if you want something specific, let me know.

I have often thought about Freemason rituals, but with clear, normal glass jars. That's more ominous anyway, isn't it?

Mason jars filled with interesting eye-candy make good bookends. They are also handy for collecting coins if one is likely to collect loose change and cash it all in one fell swoop. I once filled a bunch with bits of colored glass, marbles, anything sunlight would filter through or strike against and put it on some windowsills. Alas, they ended up being dustcatchers, but I really liked the magpie look of them.

I would love stamps of anykind and would gladly pay for them. I can use them on my cards or bookmarks or other papercrafty goodness. :-)

Well, do you want some of the larger jars for pickles?

We have a Ferengi for loose change, generally, although we do have a little jam jar in the car for it. We have too many books to need bookends, alas; at least not more than Jen TWBLP and [livejournal.com profile] gaaldine gave us as wedding presents.

I will put you on the "stamp list" for Grandpa.

Nah...we have a zillion.

One of marcs dancing friends had like 40 or so that he gave us. Plus all the smaller ones I bought.

Thanks though. =)

The Girl Scouts in this area periodically ask for jars, for one sort of Girl Scout crafty thing or another. If your local Girl Scout chapter whatsit is easily contacted and you feel motivated, you could offer the jars to them...

If no one I know wants them, I might.

We have a Ferengi for loose change

Oh, you mean like a plastic one with a hollow middle or something of that sort. Having a Ferengi for loose change isn't like having a fairy/brownie for cleaning, right?

...a Ferengi for loose change... [giggles and walks off, shaking her head]

Well, it would be the opposite, really: the Ferengi would make sure that the loose change never bothered you ever again.

But yes, it's [livejournal.com profile] timprov's old piggybank. Ferengibank. Whatever.
