Still no call from any doctors, which is a Good Thing. (Well, if [livejournal.com profile] porphyrin called we wouldn't be upset, but that's different.)

The fence people called and said they're finishing our fence tomorrow. Both woo and hoo, I believe.

I have run out of the energy required to be genuinely cheerful about any of this reasonable, good stuff. All kinds of good stuff going on -- I got the invitation to [livejournal.com profile] scottjames's wedding, the dog is behaving well, I'm in the middle of a moderately entertaining book, with the prospect of more later -- and still I am a grump.

I will have to get over it by tomorrow, because tomorrow [livejournal.com profile] markgritter and I are going down to Omaha to introduce my grands to Ista, and grouching at the grands over nothing is not on my agenda. (Not that grouching at [livejournal.com profile] markgritter, [livejournal.com profile] timprov, or Ista was on the agenda, but it's harder to hole up in one's office from almost 400 miles away.) We will have connectivity all weekend (except for the drives) but may or may not have much time for using it; we'll see. We're planning a lazy weekend.

Since about dinnertime, I've been asking myself, "How much more of today do I have to get through?" And the answer right now seems to be "almost none." Yay. Anybody else have cheerful weekend thises and thats?

I have a cheerful weekend thing! I will be meeting Ellameena for Dim Sum on Sunday! I'm looking forward to it.

'Yay' about the doctor not calling back, the fence, and the lazy weekend. May your scan be so normal and healthy that your doctor is thoroughly bored by it.

I think Miss Ista might need her own LJ - I see a string like "[livejournal.com profile] markgritter, [livejournal.com profile] timprov, or Ista" and it looks odd.

Also, perhaps she has much to say!

Laura is going with a friend to the Newport Folk Festival (http://www.newportfolk.com/noflash.html), where the Pixies will be playing. In theory, other performers will be there too, but you wouldn't know it from all the shrieking and chortling about the Pixies.

This and That

Don't push yourself to feel cheerful, grateful, or happy, if you don't. I'm not precisely sure what's going on for you with the brain scan, but I had to have an MRI several years ago because the doctor thought I might have cancer. It was very scary, and once it was over I was angry that I'd been put through the whole scare.

This weekend I am hoping to:
* find shoes for my new "most expensive dress I've ever owned" (this one looks like it's going to top the one from the last wedding by about $50)
* go to Denver w/ Mom to see brother and eat churros at the best Argentinian coffee shop ever. (They have South American style churros, which are long and thing, instead of the Mexican kind that are thick.)
* have some sort of nice surprise happen while I'm going about these other adventures.

I did not do this.

Um.

Who did?

Dim Sum Good. Yes. I could do with dim sum one of these days. Not sure when, though.

Churros. Mmmm. You know about your surprise in advance? Interesting.

I'm not going to be angry about this -- the doctor has been as reassuring as she can be, and we really have doubted that it was a tumahhhh (as [livejournal.com profile] songwind says) from the start. But I'd like to have it all confirmed for really sure, and not just this "no news" stuff.

Is "if you give a dog a desk chair" like If You Give A Mouse a Cookie?

I haven't chewed that book yet, so I don't know.

nope, I don't know about my surprise in advance, I would just like to have one. Some sort of serendipitous occurence, like running into a friend, or finding the perfect pair of earrings you had stopped looking for, but just happened to glimpse as you walked past a shop window. But I should stop writing about it now, so it will still be a surprise when it happens.

The no-news stuff is Teh Ick. I have been fortunate enough never to have had an MRI, but I had a renal ultrasound and a renogram (radioactive dye! Whee!) in the same six-month period, and it took the very busy nephrologist's office, all full of babies with congenital cancer and elderly people with kidney failure and diabetics in crisis, weeks and weeks to get back to me on either one. I understood their point of view, but that didn't make it any pleasanter.

*sigh* What I MEANT TO SAY before going off on anecdotes, is that I hope you return home to a nice reassuring telephone message.

By now I'm doubting that I will. They'll likely either call on Monday/Tuesday or else they'll send me a "no tumors here!" thing in the mail.

It will still be good to hear.

And I like your anecdotes.
