Two rejections, nothing else. Well, I did send in short story revisions to those nice patient folks at On Spec, but that's activity out of my mailbox, not in.

I read [livejournal.com profile] dlandon's book last night and probably didn't do it justice, being so tired. It reminded me of Westmark in theme and structure, so I hope it sells well and they want a sequel, because while I liked Westmark, what I really, truly loved in that series was The Kestrel. Today I finished The Scents of Eden: A History of the Spice Trade, which told me all the things I didn't care to know about the spice trade and none of the things that made me curious. Now I'm reading Mind of the Raven, which is nonfiction, not fantasy, actually about the minds of ravens. I don't remember who the author is, and it's my downstairs book, so I can't check. I've already made one note for the Aesir noir novel based on it, though. The world is filled with things I should write down for later books. (Remember, when people tell you I'm full of it, "it" is either "theories" or "story ideas.")

Our little Robin has me singing "E eats everything" and "hippos hop from helicopters" from the They Might Be Giants ABCs DVD. Oh woe, oh alack. Better that than BNL's "Thanks, That Was Fun," which is always an indicator of suboptimal mood. And that, because I am (I swear) the world's most suggestible person for earworms, has me singing the BNL version of "Lovers in a Dangerous Time," even though theirs is not my favorite version. I love the video, though. So northern. I used to watch it when we were living in California and snuffle at the snow and the street hockey. "One minute you're waiting for the sky to fall...."
