Week of March 21-27
Mar. 27th, 2004 04:51 pmWriting work done:
--3K of new material on the Not The Moose Book (bah)
--Finished "Michael Banks, Home from the War" and picked at it and sent it out. (For those of you who don't read my real journal, this is the story where the Edwardian-setting children's book children have grown up and run smack into WWI. And I will note that flying umbrellas and dogfights are hard to combine well, thankyaverymuch.)
--New scenes on books I'm not currently writing. Thanks, brain. Thanks a whole freakin' lot.
--Some Reprogramming-related edit-work, though not as much as I'd like.
--A day entirely off. I know this doesn't sound like writing work, but I am really, really bad at taking time off. Sometimes the brain needs a recharge. I think this should count. Especially as it featured Timprov and Stella and Roo and Lake of the Isles and many boppies to pet and ice cream and ducks and sunshine and....
Rejections: 2, both positive (like that helps!)
Acceptances: 0
Another pathetic showing this week. I'm hoping that having a few new short stories in the pipeline will help some, because no one seems to be in the mood to reject me. Reject me! Reject meeeeeeeeee! Or accept me, that's fine, too. I could deal with that.
Oh, and I got to issue my own rejection, of a dress that arrived by mail. Um, no. It was a lovely deep cornflower on the screen, which translated to brilliant turquoise on the me. And featured snaps down the front which a) looked much more juvenile in person than in the picture and b) did not hang right at all. They pulled. We do not pay good money for clothes that pull, and as we don't make a practice of keeping bad money available, I'm sending it back. Not suitable for our needs at this time! Didn't grab me a lass! Etc. etc. etc.! At least I got to accept a very simple navy dress. I'm going to become an Accidental Goth. It'll be horrible, just horrible. You wait and see.
