And now I am off to make company chicken with no company. But one has to eat, and we make it for company because we like it, and so there you have that.

Shimmer magazine -- in this case represented by johnjosephadams -- has just bought a short story of mine, "Pirates by Adeline Thromb Age 8."

It would go without saying that this is for their themed Pirate issue for Talk Like a Pirate Day, except that many of you don't keep track of markets and so probably didn't know they had one. So: it is. Yep. Yarrrr. (Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19 of every yearrrrr. Ahem. I mean of every year. The story is not written in pirate talk, I promise.)

This is the story I wrote in my sleep. I mean that rather literally: I went to sleep on the plane coming home from World Fantasy, having talked to johnjosephadams and admired his temporary pirate tattoo and so on, and when I woke up this story existed, whole, in my head. So I wrote it down and sent it off, and now he's buying it. Neat.
