Books read and Minicon schedule
Mar. 16th, 2008 12:03 pmLeast varied book report ever: in early March I have read Lois McMaster Bujold's The Warrior's Apprentice, Brothers in Arms, Mirror Dance, Memory, A Civil Campaign, and Diplomatic Immunity, and Dorothy Sayers's Unnatural Death, The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club, Murder Must Advertise, Gaudy Night, and Busman's Honeymoon. All Peter and Miles, all the time, until I ran out. I'm now reading the omnibus Cordelia's Honor, and then I'll have to figure out something else completely. Oof.
I will note that my tolerance for rereading has gone down since I was small. I have records of rereading the same book twice in a week when I was 11, and yet The Nine Tailors was clearly too soon to reread seven months since the last time I read it. I don't suppose this is linear from the time when I wanted Cowboy Andy over and over and over again in the same afternoon, but I'm hoping it doesn't extend itself too much farther; I'd like to be able to read the really good ones more than once in a decade when I'm in my 80s.
In other news, I got my Minicon schedule, and it looks quite reasonable. No reading this year, and there was a note in the e-mail saying that if people wanted to do readings or signings and weren't scheduled, they should ask, but as long as it wasn't already scheduled, I'm not going to seek it out this time. So here's where I can be officially found this year, amended so that my name is correct but otherwise copied from the e-mail:
Geek, Be Not Ashamed
It seems like the geeks have “won”, but many geeky pursuits are still
not socially acceptable. Many of us are still bashful about admitting
our experiences, interests and ideas. What are some good ways to fly
your geeky colors — *without* being obnoxious?
