I am violently allergic to birch trees. Good thing I live in Minnesota, huh? Umm.

I am not allergic to [livejournal.com profile] timprov, thankfully ([livejournal.com profile] markgritter and T's dad are both allergic to timothy, so we've joked about it), and I am only mildly allergic to dogs, which means not much if at all to poodles. Dust mites strongly (and we have stuff to do about that), and oaks mildly. Not mistletoe, though, so anyone who suspected I might be Baldr...uhh, right. Anyway. The backyard is oaks and birch and a few poplars, but the allergist says it doesn't matter if we tear them out, because this is Minnesota, and other people have them in quantity. So.

The allergist suspects that I have atypical allergic reactions that might explain both the dysosmia and the fatigue, but we will have to see if the treatment of them works. I'll check in with him again in a month. He was also wry and funny on the subject of Minnesotans and stoicism/health care.

I have more to say today, but I know some of you were waiting on news here.

Can I say, I LOVE your allergist if he's willing to consider atypical reactions? Do you know how many allergists refuse to consider atypical reactions claiming that those aren't really allergies?

Did he choose that name for his son on purpose, knowing he was allergic to timothy? A friend of mine is hideously allergic to cats, and named his daughter "Katrina" because loves cats and wanted to be able to have one in the house. (Of course, she's not a cat. She's a little girl. She's starting to catch on to the concept of a pun, though, so the world should beware.)

So glad you are finally beginning to get answers, or at least answer-ish things!

This counts as not-bad news, right? It seems like it...so, a cautious yay!

Oh and that too - actually he sounds like the allergist I had to leave when I switched insurance...but now he's covered *bounce*.

Well, it was very clear that I was welting up with those substances, really really substantially welting up, but he was not willing to call me a liar about not getting the sniffles seasonally.

I believe they chose his name before they knew Cal was allergic.

Non-allergy comment, but I really like the new icon. Can I vote for it to stay in the rotation?

The allergist diagosises allergies. Shocker!!! :-) I hope this is a fruitful line of investigation for you.

I am so glad you're not allergic to Timprov. That could be awkward. I doubt very much if they have a shot for that.

Sure. [livejournal.com profile] dd_b does good work.

The allergist's first line of defense for most allergies is avoidance, so I suspect he'd recommend that to most people who are allergic to [livejournal.com profile] timprov. I would have no intention of complying, however.
