Nomail. Nothing. Not even e-mail. No acceptances, no rejections, no gifts of appreciation of my extravagant silliness...nothing.

Obviously I need to write more short stories. I can't think what's kept me from doing that this week.

At the Como Park Conservatory yesterday, there was a kid who looked just like a 17-year-old version of [livejournal.com profile] ccfinlay. He and his friend were wandering around the Japanese Garden, and Mini-Charlie was taking pictures with his cell phone, irises and fish and Irish moss. He turned to his friend after he got the koi to actually show up on the phone's screen. "Man," he said, "people who say they have to move because there's nothing to do here -- man, that's stupid." And my heart overflowed.

ETA: Also, one of the orchids smelled just like Julia at our favorite former Hungarian-Roma restaurant in San Francisco. I stood there sniffing and crinkling my forehead: how did that happen? Why?

Also, I saw a guy at the new downtown library I'd seen at Minicon. I don't know his name, and also he was going into the men's room, so I didn't speak to him. Middle-aged white guy, beard, glasses. You know the one.

I saw him here at WisCon yesterday, so he does get around. I think maybe his brother was here, too.

That was me, by the way.

If this picture was a close-up, more people would be laughing at you with me.

The person from Minicon and the library really was a specific individual I'm sure I've seen, not just a type.

Ah, I meant I was the anonymous poster claiming to have seen the same guy. (LiveJournal forgets who I am often enough to be annoying, but not often enough for me to remember to check before I post.)

But the guy I saw was a specific individual too. I'm sure of it.

Crap, is one of my clones loose and running around cool Midwestern cities unattended again?!

Angel (http://www.livejournal.com/users/one_undone/) and I had a similar problem recently. We met[1] a really nice guy at the MNStF party at [livejournal.com profile] cakmpls's house. She asked me to post to try to find out who he was, but we couldn't come up with a better description than "middle-aged white male with long hair and a beard," which described about 3/4 of the men present.[2]

[1] For values of "met" that don't include learning the person's name.
[2] We know he wasn't [livejournal.com profile] barondave, [livejournal.com profile] von_krag, [livejournal.com profile] dd_b, or [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B. Maybe by process of elimination you could figure out who it is?

Could have been Dean, although I don't think he has his real name connected to his lj, so I'm not saying them close to each other. I don't remember hair length on That Guy Whose Name Might Be Doug. (He looks very like my cousin Doug, so I keep thinking his name can't be Doug. But hardly anybody actually names their children around what my cousins aren't named, so it very well might be; certainly it's something like Doug. Umm. Possibly I should find out this man's name, as I have conversed with him more than once, and "Hi, Doug Or Something Like It!" is not a very polite greeting.) Could have been someone I'm not thinking of at the moment or don't know. If it was me, I'd go look at pictures on [livejournal.com profile] dd_b's website from a past meeting and see if I could figure out from there.

I think I posted a list of LJers at that Minn-StF meeting in my journal, FWIW.

Hope he wasn't having a better weekend than you are -- that'd be frustrating, I'd think.

I went back to your post, but wasn't able to identify the gentleman in question from the names listed there. I'm off to check [livejournal.com profile] dd_b's photo archives. Thanks anyway. :-)

Just checked [livejournal.com profile] dd_b's photos, to no avail. Apparently I'll have to wait until I see the gentleman in question again and then find out who he is.
