You know what I miss from being little? Being able to wail like an air-raid siren every once in awhile when you didn't feel good. Sure, you'd get in trouble and have to apologize to Great-Aunt Thus-and-such and go to your room, but at least you'd get a good howl in first. And after the door closed behind you, you'd hear your mom or dad say, "poor kiddo, it's rough not feeling good when you're little." Not a picnic when you're big, either, actually.

Also I miss the banana kind of Jell-o Pudding Pops. I don't want vanilla or chocolate or swirl. I want banana. I think they stopped making them when I was 7, when they introduced swirl. But maybe I just associate it with that year because that's the year they stopped making Kookaburras, which were the best Girl Scout cookies ever.

Having a good memory is not always a blessing. Wouldn't trade it, though.

I'm with you on the wailing. I'm 36 years old and there are definitely some days when it would be nice to throw myself down on the floor and have a good screaming fit. I'm almost tempted to go into my bosses office and throw a tantrum right now, just to see the expression on his face.

You can have my share of the banana Pudding Pops if they bring them back; I'm a chocolate junkie.

Go ahead, wail. (I was doing my best impression of an air-raid siren last night.)

I realize it's not particularly useful when you're sick, but I saw you had popsicle molds - can you just fill them up with banana pudding?

I don't think I ever did that wailing thing, perhaps I missed out.

Banana pudding pops were my favorite too, now that you mention it. I'd forgotten about them. Vanilla ones are okay, but just not as good.

Kookaburras were my favorite girl scout cookie and not just 'cuz of the name (though I like the name). Every year when people get excited about Girl Scout cookies, I look at the list and shake my head 'cuz they don't have the good ones any more.

Waking [livejournal.com profile] timprov will help no one, I'm afraid.

Chocolate Pudding Pops are just not chocolatey enough for me. Like chocolate ice cream, mostly (with some exceptions), or like Oreos.

I can try it. I don't know if it'll be the same.

We have popsicle molds in the shape of rocket ships, for why? because [livejournal.com profile] porphyrin loves me, is why.

I am still excited about the rocket ships.

I wasn't much of a wailer, but now I can't be, is the thing.

And I knew you were a sensible person of good taste.

Not unless she's visiting, but I'd still wake [livejournal.com profile] timprov.

Let me know how it turns out

Speaking of frozen confections, it's getting to be summer - time to make some.

Maybe sorbet first.

Oh, yeah - what's stopping you from wailing like an air raid siren now anyway? I mean, assuming Timprov isn't sleeping?

No, of course that wouldn't do. (I only disturb the dogs when I wail.)

Another possibility is to just freeze bananas - maybe cut them in half first and put a popsicle stick in each half for ease in handling.

And if you want to get really elaborate, you can dip the bananas in chocolate first (or get that chocolate ice cream topping that hardens when it gets cold. I warn you though, eating a frozen chocolate-covered banana is pretty much a visual double entendre all by itself. I don't know why plain bananas don't have that affect, but they don't.

Who says they don't?

However, frozen bananananananananas, while tasty, have entirely different texture than frozen pudding.

What's stopping you? (Assuming you're not in a public place, etc.)

I miss Banana Quick.

I found out at Wiscon that there are two Girl Scout Cookie bakeries. I knew we switched when I was a Brownie-- we got a few new cookies (Chateau Cremes were heaven) and then no! Only the staples remained! I still feel a little betrayed.
Anyway. I do not remember a cookie named Kookaburra. Alas.

Being able to wail like an air-raid siren every once in awhile when you didn't feel good.

That's what singing is good for. :)

I don't think I ever did that wailing thing, perhaps I missed out.

Me, neither.

I do miss being able to wander out to the living room and ask for a hug, when I'm feeling sad and alone. I mean, I still have people to ask for hugs. But they're farther away than the living room.

I find I can wail the best while showering. I've been thinking there's just days that clog up every bit of emotion and self control and you just to let it lose some safe way.

P.S: I'm a thin mint man, nothing better inada world to make cream pie crusts. Humm and snarf down with a icy cold glass o milk.

Bananas and frozen confectionary--a strange marriage that ought to last forever. I love banana ice cream. I loved RoboPops from the neighborhood ice cream truck even more. Layers of banana and chocolate ice cream in a chocolate shell with an arbitrary theme. Num.

Put a pillow over your mouth. You miss out of the satisfaction of hearing your own wail, but you get to wail.

As [livejournal.com profile] songwind points out, they're really lovely but not at all the same thing.

Still, they're a good idea, and I should do more one of these days. [livejournal.com profile] markgritter and [livejournal.com profile] timprov laughed at me the last time I made homemade chocolate-dipped frozen bananas (and really I made quite a mess of myself), but it was worth it.

For me, singing loudly is fine and wailing is fine, but the middle ground between the two hurts like crazy.

When [livejournal.com profile] timprov was in the hospital and we had no idea what was wrong with him and everything they tested was coming out normal and he still couldn't walk to the bathroom without nurse assistance -- um. Yah. In the midst of all that, I cried in the shower a fair amount, and not only did it let loose, but it kept the letting-loose part from becoming overwhelming. So yes. Big fan of shower wails.

Going and taking another shower just to wail, though, is not really feasible when I'm dizzy enough that the first one is an adventure.
