Sounds like the battery is a good possibility. The classic mode of battery failure is where you get grinding noises and nothing else happens, but I've also had it fail without previous warning, so totally that there are no noises. The nice thing about that is it doesn't cost much and is easy to do yourself, or at least anyone's self who can lift and carry an automotive battery. They're heavy. What you can do to check is to take the battery to an automotive parts store and they'll test it for free.
