Having [livejournal.com profile] markgritter off this week has been nice, but it hasn't contributed much to me getting good, focused writing done. This morning I was the kitchen goddess: I made banana bread, cinnamon rolls, filling for roasted red pepper and black bean quesadillas, and chili for supper. I know I've said before how much I love crockpot chili, but really, it's just the loveliest thing, dumping ingredients together in the morning and coming back in the evening to find dinner mostly ready and the house smelling fabulous.

Continuing the "not contributing to a writing focus" theme of the week, I'm going with [livejournal.com profile] markgritter to "Cars" this afternoon, on the theory that we'll have more opportunity to see the new Pirates movie later, and also that it's remotely possible that we'll have the chance to see it at a time when [livejournal.com profile] timprov would be able. (And as I was typing this, I had to explain nearly the same thing to Ginger on e-mail, so there was something of an echo effect.)

Maybe tonight. Maybe not. We'll see. I am telling myself that not every week has to be the most productive week, and that taking the time to spend with people while they are off is a good thing, not a bad thing. But it's a lot less concrete, as good things go.
