Good morning, my dears. Oof, warm here. I should probably get the scones in the oven before the day heats up any further, but I am just not in the mood to stand and pit cherries right now. Somewhere along the line -- I could probably look at my old journal entries to see where -- chocolate cherry scones became a birthday breakfast tradition for me. I didn't make any last year because I was so wretchedly exhausted all the time. I think that's my favorite thing about my birthday this year (edited: which, to be clear, is tomorrow): the acute enjoyment of having my body not doing unpleasant and mysterious things on me, for the first time in about a year. Yesterday I took the dog for two (hot! humid!) walks. I was tired when it came time for me to go to bed, but one is supposed to be tired when one goes to bed; otherwise one would just stay up and read longer. (This is perhaps an overextension of "one.") Last year at this time, I'd have been asleep on the couch within 15 minutes of returning from the first walk -- not out of breath, not muscle-sore, just exhausted. So I really appreciate the difference this year.

If you're going to be in the Minneapolis area on Saturday and would like to come to my birthday party and don't yet have directions etc., please e-mail me. I didn't leave anybody out intentionally, but I may have done so accidentally, or by being unaware of travel plans, or something of that nature. When I think about it, I'm glad that the entire world (of people I like) isn't converging on the Twin Cities metro for my birthday, because then I wouldn't have time to spend with them individually. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't make exceptions to this policy for you, and you, and him, and her, and those folks over there....

I *could* be there, but I have been practicing being sensible recently. Grumble. Happy day before actual date of birth!

*headdesk*

I am so discombublated. I really thought it was Wednesday.

But yay! The grocery order is not due until tomorrow! No doubt I'll think it's Tuesday then and not do it.

Happy birthday eve, in the meantime.

P.

Hee. I do this kind of thing all the time. "What do you mean it's not Friday? It was Thursday yesterday." "No, it was Tuesday yesterday." Sheepishly: "Oh."

Happy Birthday Eve!

I wish I could be there, but I live in Chicago. But you might know that already. Still, I'd be there if I could.

Yay Scones!

I could theoretically be there Saturday, bleary-eyed, road-weary but ready and determined to party. --But while I'm sure it will be a most fantabulous party, one people will be talking about and pretending to have attended for years to come, perhaps even a party deserving of footnotes and allusions in the annals of fenndom, all this notwithstanding, I am afraid I shall not, in fact, be there. Perchance I could buy you lunch, or at the least dessert, the next time I'm in town?

You are welcome if you decide to be determined. "But it wasn't likely, and we didn't expect it." Anyway, we will hope to see you one of these days anyway, and lunch or dessert or both would be lovely.
