When I said Wednesday that I was in a period of weird reticence, part of what I meant was that I am feeling strangely reluctant to mention social stuff, even though nobody has been asking me to keep it secret that I saw them. [livejournal.com profile] laurel, for example, served me mulled cider -- okay, I need to go to bed, because I typed that as "mulled spider" and had to think hard about why it was wrong. (I woke up way too early this morning.) And I got to see other cool people than [livejournal.com profile] laurel, too. That was Friday.

Today [livejournal.com profile] markgritter and the folks and the grands and Onie and I went to the Nutcracker. Met up with several people there, including K. and F. who were dancing in it. Good time had by all, except maybe the poor kid who was injured in the snowflake section. My mom wants to theater-geek with [livejournal.com profile] theferret some more, and my grandmother commented several times on how B. is "really your girl!" (Yah, I'll take her.)

Got to spend a fair amount of time with the grands and Onie while they were here. That's been good, too.

The only real down side to this week has been that [livejournal.com profile] timprov has felt like the wreck of the Hesperus and has missed several things he really wanted to do. But he's been coping with it pretty well, and he has a doctor's appointment coming up.

I have started planning lunch, coffee, and dinner with other people a bit more frequently again, and I'm going to try to get a few more of such occasions on the calendar before everyone goes nuts with the holidays. We're not having a Christmas party -- nor a Mikulas party, a Lucia party, a Solstice party, a Boxing Day party, a New Year's party, a Twelfth Night party, or an MLKJr. party, to the best of my knowledge -- but it occurs to me once again that the advantage of having a party is that you have a much better chance that everyone you know will come to your party (still not a good chance, but a better one) than you do that they'll come to someone else's party. Ah well. There's lunch. I am a big fan of lunch.
