I have one rejection from last week. This week, nothing. It's almost like editors and agents are human beings with lives and needs and activities of their own, or something crazy like that.

Tomorrow I'm making lasagna. I didn't get lasagna for Thanksgiving or Christmas, so we are having it for New Year's. I am greatly fond of lasagna.

I am in post-Christmas paralysis on the subject of which book to read next. I am staring at my stacks and meeping happily. I'm sure I'll get over it by the time I'm done taking our Christmas treat over to our favorite neighbors' house, or if not then, certainly after dinner. But in the meantime -- meep! What to read, what to read!

Aren't editors and agents faceless robots, hardwired to reading portals and computer terminals, their mechanical maws nibbling away at the pulpy gruel, the perpetual slush pile, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year? I always thought so.

No, robot editors need faces, with mouths (or some kind of slot), into which to feed manuscripts, so they can come out the conveyor belt at the other end.

I love me lasagna tho afters the gall bladder was yanked (it wasn't even over sexed or over there!) I had to do a radical change to me recipe. Red sauce and non low fat cheeses hit the highway, hello to white sauce and low fat almost cheese. I miss my real cheese I tell you three times. Anyway I use that recipe for white bolignase as the base now and add more mushrooms too.

How could more mushrooms be wrong?
