Dear Character,

Remember how you get a whole book all to yourself later? Remember how you demanded a whole book all to yourself later?

That means you don't get to take over this one. Especially as you are not in the right country to do so. You do not get to be -- ack, ack, you are, there are more structural parallels with the operetta. I didn't know you existed when I wrote that bit! Stop doing that!

Be patient. Your turn will come. Just not today.

Even though you are shiny.

Not. Today. No.

Okay, lady, love you, buh-bye.

P.S. Thank you for telling me about the last Client-Queen of Ardia, though. I like her, too.

Yes.

Except unlike in the breakfast club, the geek will find love. Dammit.

Sweet! And I can totally see it.

Have you read Hackers and Painters? It devolves into a very geeky discussion of why Lisp is a superior programming language, but before it goes there it starts out with some cool essays. Fairly early on it addresses the question of why geeks are not tolerated well in high school but become cool in college and then go on to rule the world after graduation.

I think if I were a programmer I'd appreciate the end better, but the beginning and middle are still quite good.

and now I've gone and looked up the Breakfast Club script online and spend a bunch of time reading that. (talk about demented and sad...)
