While I was gone, [livejournal.com profile] johnjosephadams sent me the illustrations [livejournal.com profile] coppervale did for my story in the Pirate themed issue of Shimmer, "Pirates by Adeline Thromb Age 8." I am amused and delighted with what James did with my goofy hypnopompic story. Here's a sample:

I'm told that this issue, while slightly delayed, will be out in October.

Edited to add: James tells me that it is two other Owens, Jeremy and Laura, who are responsible for these illustrations. Credit where due -- I'm still delighted!

I note a suspicious lack of laser-beams.

The laser-beams were also left out of the story in question. Not all of my obsessions must enter every piece of fiction I write.

Just, y'know, politics.

That is the best story illustration ever.

-hoots with laughter-

I dearly hope the illustration is placed at the [certain spot] of the story.

Ohhhh, I love that story. I love this illustration too. I bet coppervale had much fun drawing for't. :D

Glad you like it/them! This one is approximately where you'd expect it. I think you'll like the others, too.

Yay!

I may be seeing the next set of proofs soon.

This was the first I saw of any illustrations. I'm so tickled that you got to hang them here, M'ris!

Yarr!

John asked if we could possibly FULLY illustrate your story - and my brother Jeremy (the Coppervale Studio Manager) took the idea and ran with it. He gets all the credit for these, Marissa (except for the fact he swiped the style 9 and killer unicorn - from his daughter Laura's drawings.)

Coincidentally, ypu've seen miss Laura - she's the character Laura Glue, from the first chapter of my new book (the girl with wings holding the rose).

Very happy YOU'RE happy, Mriss.
