Good things.
Sep. 24th, 2008 02:19 pmSo there is a light at the end of the tunnel, as of yesterday's clinic PT. Still in the tunnel. But light, for sure. This is a good thing. We are able to talk about the day when I will not be doing this stuff thrice daily, not as a misty dream but as a plan. Not a plan for today or next week or next month. But still a plan. Hurrah for plans.
My aunt is showing a bunch of her paintings at her alma mater, Augsburg College here in town, and there will be an artist talk and like that on Friday, 5:30-7:30 (not talking for the whole time, of course -- Mary would curl up in a little meepy ball if you tried to make her give a talk for two hours). If you're local and liked the painting above our fireplace, you might be interested: that's one of hers, although she's gone a bit more nature-abstract since then rather than abstract-abstract. The pay ramp at 22nd and Riverside seems to be the best parking bet. This is not a good opportunity to linger after the gallery opening and go out for dinner with me and those of my family and friends who are planning to be there with me, though, because I will be running off to the first part of Nordic Roots immediately thereafter. During, in fact, since the concert is at 7:30, and the Cedar tends to start things on time all considerate-like.
The fella who is replacing our back door was on time all considerate-like, too, and after spending several hours being alarmed at the thumpings and bumpings, the doglet is bored with him. Which is good, because it lets me get a few things done instead of just calming her.
What are some of your good things this Wednesday?

Date: 2008-09-24 07:35 pm (UTC)Good things: Banana bread that I made and David liked. (I typed that as "nanana" bread twice.)
Going hiking with my hermit sweetie in about ten minutes, to wallow in the autumn and see what the late insects are up to.
I am free of my book until next week, when I start revising Vol. 2.

Date: 2008-09-24 08:25 pm (UTC)Good thing: It is autumn outside. I sat on the patio, wrote, watched squirrels, and laughed when a big old red leaf from the maple tree fell in my coffee mug.

Date: 2008-09-24 08:42 pm (UTC)Myself, the rusted-out railings on my apartment's balcony have finally been replaced, and I've got the hardware to put a hook in the roof so we can have the hummingbird feeder where it won't drip on the balcony floor. Also, a few weeks ago a book I requested on BookMooch was accidentally mailed to Michigan, and I received the book that should have been mailed there; but the sender was prompt in arranging to correct this, and the book I wanted arrived yesterday.
And I have made all the candles I need to make for a while.

Date: 2008-09-24 09:46 pm (UTC)My good things are a possible end to the 20 years of doing The Wrong Thing Entirely for a living, and even if not, validation already happening that I actually could do something else. That I love.
And tonight I am RPing online with several of my favorite people and plan to bring several Death-eaters (which is a stupid name but amuses them and who cares, I made it up on the fly) to the mix and stir things up and give people a chance to whomp and stake and kill, which seems to make people happy, and you know. Being vampires and being whomped and making people happy is up there in terms of priority for me. Plus, you know. Death-eaters at the peaceful harvest faire. This appeals to my inner havoc-wreaker very much.

Date: 2008-09-25 02:08 am (UTC)I called Jan to say I was grumpy and gimpy and anxious and could I take the long way home -- would he mind if I was late?
And he said why no I don't mind putting up with a grumpy Ddayr for 1/2 an hour less so I went crosstown to the U and hopped on the West River Road and then to the Greenway on my way home.
The river smelled fresh and clean, and I rolled over a few fallen leaves, and it was lovely and cool and delicious.
It really did feel much better when I got home.

Date: 2008-09-25 03:58 am (UTC)Read Thomas Disch's Camp Concentration, watched an episode of The West Wing, and also First Blood: Part II (okay, so the Rambo thing wasn't that great).
Went to the new Cirque show at the Target Center tonight.
A good day.

Date: 2008-09-25 05:34 pm (UTC)Zucchini and summer squash cut into coins, tomatoes cut roughly into 3/4 inch cubes and marinated with balsamic vinegar, shredded chicken and a 2 tablespoon of stock. Season with onion onion seasoning, tarragon, lemon pepper & dill. A bit of feta sprinkled across the top. Served by itself. Yum.
