Christmas Eve

Thanks to all of you who wished for health and comfort for the Ista-bop; she had a quiet evening and was made much of, and she got her antibiotic pill in some cheese and got to sleep on markgritter's fleece. I expect she'll be perking along today.

Those of you who've known me for awhile may remember that Christmas Eve is my holiday, the holiday of choice for me, the one that has to be observed on the proper day. Fairly soon it will all begin. We've had to shift a few things to account for the health and age of various family members, but all the right elements are here and waiting, and I have promising theories about lunch with my father (which is one of the things that's shifted: lunch rather than snack). I hope you all have a wonderful day. I certainly intend to.

I'm very bummed because all of our christmas eve plans have been ruined by my husband's employer. He is on vacation, but has worked all night and is at work right now. We will not be able to go ahead with our Xmas eve plans, and Xmas itself is somewhat in peril, since him working all of these hours is preventing the acquisition of crucial last minute gift items. *sigh*

Christmas Eve is also OUR big day; Jan makes this absolutely insane spread: a traditional Polish meal. He starts cooking it a day or two after Thanksgiving.

Actually, Mom and markgritter store-wander as well. The baking is all handled by Christmas Eve, or handled-ish: the cinnamon rolls will go in the oven before breakfast tomorrow, and the cheesy potatoes before lunch, but they're prepped and ready.

The dogly joy, you would just not believe. A fleece lovey made by one's own mormor is really quite the thing for perking up one's spirits.
