I loathe Bryson. A million people pressed me to read his book about hiking the Appalachian Trail, and it was filled with complaints about how it was not like walking in England. Also on the trail someone was rude to him and he stole their bootlaces, as though that were a hilarious prank and not a truly dangerous situation. Uh, and apparently I am still really pissed about that, ten years after reading!
