Because I have been, as dd_b put it earlier in the week, sitting under the short story tree: that is, half-ripe short stories keep falling down around me, many of them hitting me on the head.

This is a very dangerous mindset in which to attend conventions.

It's not just because Mr. Carter Hall is a royal pain in the patoot, either. Not just because.

ETA to advise, based on my own 4th street experience, that if some interesting people say to you "we have this group writing project..." they should be gently bound in cold iron and sent back to whence they came.
