[livejournal.com profile] swan_tower did the recording of my short story, "Väinämöinen and the Singing Fish," which is now available on PodCastle for the low, low price of absolutely free. I have been playing with niecelets and talking to their parents and have not yet had a chance to listen to it, but I'm looking forward to it. I hope you enjoy it.

Completely off-topic, but have you seen this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-KS99BU_2A) already?

I hope you enjoy it; I also very much hope my attention didn't wander on any of the pronunciations. (There were a few my brain kept persistently trying to get wrong, unless I jerked it back on track.)

I had not.

And while it had some of the standard-and-not-really-mine Minnesota things (I am not a Spam girl or a fisher), it also had some apropos moments. (Loon Cafe represent!)

I freely admit that the "uff-da" made me instantly think of you.

I didn't realize that [livejournal.com profile] jonsinger had never spontaneously heard someone use "uff da" in conversation until I did this 4th St. I still can hardly believe this to be true. He has come here for things often enough, and it is a thing people say. I am people, and I say it! Therefore.

Also I have gotten [livejournal.com profile] alecaustin doing it.

I am utterly unrepentant.

California gave us upspeak; [livejournal.com profile] mrissa is responsible for spreading the uff da. I know which one I prefer.

And how is this a deviation from the norm, exactly? (Not that I feel you have anything to be repentant about, mind. Just asking the question.)

Also, congrats on the podcastling of your story!

I'm just saying: if my mom ever hears you say, "Uff da," she's going to give me the proud-and-happy look. Like when she discovered Lil's love of lefse. Because there will be absolutely no doubt as to whose fault it is.

Although she may be willing to let [livejournal.com profile] timprov and [livejournal.com profile] markgritter share some credit.

I really enjoyed your reading, especially how you read the haddock.

I did enjoy it, but also it made me sad.

I think I'm going to have to hear it a few more times in context before I can say it correctly, to tell the truth. Though it is a *very* convenient interjection in text, I must say.
