Here are the promised paperweight pictures from my glassblowing experience. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] timprov for the photography. I cut because I care, and because I haven't used the image embedding function on lj in a long time if ever and am not sure how it'll size.

paperweight-2
paperweight-1
paperweight-3

Edited to add: Heh. These are showing up on my monitor larger than the paperweight actually is in real life, which is amusing, and allows me to compare features. The vein of green that looks like a crack in the bottom one is not along the surface, for example, but does run along and through the bubble. Cool.

Well-spotted, Emma, that is just the kind of paperweight I like best and the kind I was aiming at making.

The colors are gorgeous. It's so cool that you made this yourself! I'm now searching for glass blowing courses I can take after the first of the year.

That's beautiful and I love the irregular shape - it makes it more like a natural thing.

I started out going, "wellll...it's not perfect, but it's my first try..." and ended up going, "when I pet it this is where my fingers go. I like this shape."

Very pretty and oceanic. Of course, anything that has teal-like colors in it is going to have an in with me.

You shaped it by petting it with your fingers (with a wet newspaper in between), right? So it seems fitting that it would do that.

(Also, it is very pretty indeed!)

That's lovely.

If you were to get into doing that bigtime and make them as presents for all your friends, I expect that could make a person really happy.

Gorgeous! Very, very nice job! I think the bubbles make it 'real' to me somehow - sometimes they seem too perfect. Congrats on making it!

It's something I'd love to try. We have the National Glass Centre nearby and, just looking at their website, I see that I could blow a Christmas bauble... Hurm... Something to think about.

Oh I am fond. I was too distracted to have time to fully appreciate it when you brought it to my talk, so I look forward to meeting it again soon.
