Dear Snow:

Remember the time we spent Halloween together? That was awesome! Let's do it again!

Love,

*whimper*

I remember sitting in the dark that Saturday night, hoping our house would survive so we could have our closing in two weeks.

I'm hoping our impending storm sticks to rain and wind, because we aren't ready for snow. We got the "three inches of snow on trees that still have all their leaves" last year, and I don't want to do it again. I like our trees, and I don't want them to fall over on power lines.

(It is deeply weird to have so much green, and so few bare trees, on October 25, but we do.)

I skipped to Arizona for the Halloween blizzard, and was VERY happy to spend it in the shade of lime trees.

I would have imagined that you lived in Nebraska during the great Halloween Blizzard. Huh.

1) I did. It snowed there too. Lots. My best friend at the time got stuck at my house. You cannot imagine the adolescent glee of a slumber party extended, or perhaps you can.
2) We still had most of our family up here and were visiting at various points during that year, so for the subsequent snow-upon-snow-and-bad-road-clearing-and-more-snow, we got stuck here various times, again much to my adolescent glee.

I remember driving home from our Samhain ritual, rather freaked, and wondering why it was Yule all of a sudden. And Martin, who hadn't lived here that long, wondering if the weather here was *really* that much worse than Madison.

Pat WINOLJ and I were just talking about that last night. (It's the time of the year, after all.) She was at World Fantasy Con in Tucson, and she said all the Minneapolis people were rather wistful about how it was the First Big Snow and they were all missing it. However, [livejournal.com profile] dd_b's comment would seem to belie that, at least from his point of view.
