I don't think that word is properly formed, actually. The Greek root is psittakos, which came into Latin as psittacus (so both roots are Latin, which is one possible objection out of the way); but the combining form is psittaco-, not psitta-. Admittedly that's a bit clunkier to pronounce, but purely as "vocabulary" I'd rather have the authentic classical forms.
