So guess which anemic forgot to take either of her two iron supplements yesterday morning? And for added fun and games, guess which anemic was supposed to start her period last night (actually happened this morning)?

Oh, fun fun fun, what fun this is. This is why I generally keep to a routine and why I shouldn't stop with the routine even for a day. Wheeeeeee.

I think this was going to be a nasty period anyway, but the extra dizziness doesn't help. I used to chide Heathah for this very mistake when she was lying on the floor of the physics office: "I don't know why I feel so funny." "Did you take your iron this morning?" "..."

Sigh. So if you don't hear from me, it's because I and Sion Crossing are lying on something warm trying to drown our troubles in each other. Sadly, I doubt that my cramps and dizziness distract it much from its dialog problems or the totally annoying character who keeps popping up center stage. Ah well; sometimes these things have to work unilaterally.

Oh, what a very nice thing to wish. And we could manage the chocolate pudding, even.

What will probably happen is that I will go padding down to the chest freezer and see if there is beef so that I can make black bean chili, which goes in the crockpot and and doesn't require my attention in the before-dinner blood sugar doldrums. And in the meantime I'll snack on some raisins. Raisins are iron-ic.

I picked up Robin McKinley's Sunshine and am wondering if vampire stories are The Thing for days like today: lots of blood loss....

Fee. We're even out of raisins. Time for the fortified breakfast cereals (no fruitbats or orangautans, however).

If it makes you feel better, it takes about 3 months to accumulate enough iron stores to make a difference when it comes to acute bleeding or iron-deficiency anemia.

Iron metabolism is a slow thing.

So take your iron now, and all this coming cycle too. :)

Hmmm. I take it daily. Seems hard to believe that all the times I've been seriously dizzy after missing a day or someone else has are coincidence. Guess it could be, but it's a lot of coincidences. (On the other hand, even with two supplements a day and eating meat and fortified cereal and all, I'm still always just below the "acceptable" range.)

Back to bed.
