Taking your shoes off at the airport can feel like an odd experience. However, for TikToker Sasha Yermakov (@sashayermakov), this move proved instrumental in reuniting her with one of her prized possessions.

The clip, which has amassed 22,800 views, consists of her boyfriend walking around with his shoes off while going through TSA. Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that he’s wearing Aritzia socks—but they don’t belong to him.

The United States may be dreaming about taking Greenland. However, the people residing in the territory aren’t too keen on surrendering themselves and letting the obnoxious orange-headed dictator in the White House and the country he represents rule it.

In a recently circulating video on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, while standing beside the President of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, can be seen vocalising his stance on a possible annexation attempt by Donald Trump and his administration.

People of Minneapolis, including those in positions of power, are vowing to be no longer threatened by Donald Trump and his efforts to malign them. After the recent brutal shooting and killing of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent, people have been up in arms against the President of the United States and rightfully so. Because not only did he excuse the behaviour of the murderer, he also tried to paint Good as “disorderly” and a miscreant while trying to shift the narrative of the story.

On January 3, 2026, the United States, under the orders of Donald Trump, conducted a raid in Venezuela, resulting in the abduction of the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Trump, who considers Maduro to be a narcoterrorist, has since then expressed his desire to subject Maduro to the due process of United States law and punish him for his alleged crimes.

After being captured by the United States forces, Nicolás Maduro is no longer the president of Venezuela, and no one is currently serving in his position. Ongoing discussions are taking place regarding who might succeed him, with the United States possibly having a say in the matter. Donald Trump has made it clear that he plans to “run” Venezuela for now until a seamless transition of power can be achieved. In the meantime, he has also been vocal about wanting to explore Venezuela’s rich oil reserves, which he claims have been left untapped by the local population. He wishes to work alongside Venezuelans to ensure that the American people also benefit from these resources. Trump’s statements about utilising Venezuela’s oil have led many to believe that his kidnapping of Maduro was not merely about combating terrorism or liberating Venezuelans from a dictator, but rather a strategic move to seize control of Venezuelan oil.

What I Finished Reading This Week
Nothing. Still working through multiple lengthy titles, at least two of which I should finish later this week.

What I Am Currently Reading

Internet Security Fundamentals - Nick Ioannou
So far, it's doing exactly what it says on the tin.

Mannaz – Malene Sølvsten
Sølvsten introduced some interesting new settings and characters in the chapters I read this week.

After the Forest – Kell Woods
This book continues to be very, very good, although I'm skeptical that Woods can draft a satisfying, unrushed conclusion in the amount of pages left.

The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish vol. 1 – Xue Shan Fei Hu
Because why not add another 400+ page book to my current stack of in progress titles.

What I’m Reading Next

This week I acquired Mickey Clement's The Irish Princess, Vanessa Vida Kelly's When the Tides Held the Moon, TJ Klune's Wolfsong, Meg Richman's Freya the Deer, and Xue Shan Fei Hu's The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish vol. 1.

Our paper has stopped coming

Yes, we still subscribe to the paper copy of our local city paper, the Star Tribune. It's not perfect, but I very much want to keep what's left of local journalism alive. And Richard doesn't use electronic media, so he actually reads the whole thing.

But last weekend it just stopped being delivered. Curiously, that means that two different carriers just stopped showing up: the weekend one and the weekday one. When I reported it I got a canned response and credit for the missed papers. But there probably isn't much they can do about it. The paper carriers are probably in hiding from ICE.

With every new Star Trek show comes an important question: Does it bring in older Trek fans in with new fans? And Starfleet Academy does a seamless job bringing both in.

The new series takes us to a place fans have always wanted to go: Starfleet Academy. But what makes this show more than just another show in the Star Trek machine is rooted in the joy the young cadets have at being a member of the Starfleet family. That and the show, created by Alex Kurtzman, Noga Landau, and Gaia Violo, uses small nods to other Star Trek stories to captivate its audience.

The whole nation is mourning the tragic loss of a 37-year-old woman in Minnesota, who was brutally shot and killed by an ICE agent on Wednesday. Her name was Renee Nicole Good, and her only offence was living in America, believing that the authorities were there to protect its citizens rather than harm them.

On Wednesday and Thursday, several videos began circulating on social media, showing the events that transpired during the Minnesota incident. These clips were recorded by individuals who were present and witnessed the incident firsthand. Multiple videos on the platform show ICE agents approaching a woman’s vehicle and trying to open her car door, and her attempting to escape. While one could argue that her fleeing was inappropriate, what followed was certainly not what she deserved as a consequence for her actions.

Trump Department of Labor uses Nazi slogan in X post

On January 10, the U.S. Department of Labor made an X post that should have never cleared a single layer of review. Yet, it made its way into an official federal account with a rip-off of a Nazi slogan. The Nazi symbolism is getting progressively worse in this administration.

The video, posted by the official USDOL X account, is a montage of American artwork, monuments, and pastoral imagery. It’s supposed to be patriotic, and ends with a blunt directive: “Remember who you are.” But the caption goes further… much further:

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stood outside the White House on January 13 to exemplify irony. She first flattened Renee Nicole Good’s death into a talking point, weaponized it, and then accused Democrats of protecting pedophiles. Talk about projection.

Defending ICE in the wake of the killing of Renee Nicole Good, Leavitt did not hedge. She did not wait for investigations or acknowledge disputed facts, bystander footage, or unanswered questions. Instead, she declared that the ICE agent who shot Good was “absolutely justified.” Worse, she called Good a “ deranged lunatic,” and moved seamlessly into accusing GOP critics of protecting monsters.

woman shares etsy issues (l) etsy online store (r)

An Etsy seller is calling out the platform after alleging that a scammer tried to fraudulently claim she sent the wrong item.

While Etsy remains a popular marketplace for homemade goods and other crafts, buyers and sellers alike have complaints about the platform. One of those complaints is a lack of transparency when it comes to disputes over sales on the site.

For weeks, President Donald Trump has been talking about annexing Greenland, saying the territory is important to the United States from a “national security” perspective. To justify his potential future actions in the region, Trump has also claimed that Russian and Chinese ships are present in Greenland, suggesting these countries are planning to take over the territory.

Donald Trump may be dreaming of owning Greenland, but the people of the area, including their leaders, are not ready to give up their autonomy yet. In a statement on Tuesday, the Premier/Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, said that if they had to choose between the United States and Denmark, they would definitely choose the latter. Nielsen clarified his stance further, saying that Greenland would choose NATO, the Kingdom of Denmark, and the European Union over the United States. He also said that the territory would not be “owned” by the United States, would not be “governed” by the United States, and would not be a “part” of the United States, sending a strong message to Donald Trump, who is planning to achieve all of these goals.

Besides being bad at being a president, there are also other things that Donald Trump is terrible at. This includes mimicry, giving nicknames, and, honestly, simply talking and existing, although he would like to think that he excels in all of them.

In a video that is currently going viral on social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), Trump can be seen doing a cheap imitation of Joe Biden’s way of speaking, especially when he is giving a speech. Highlighting how he usually coughs before starting his speech, Trump attempts to emulate the act by making weird sounds, giving off putting expressions, and twisting and turning his body in a caricaturish manner for more effect, which, if you ask me, does not even come close to what Biden does when he is speaking in front of people. Maybe that is why the audience, which usually reacts to Trump’s antics with forced laughter, turned silent when he was doing this.

Zendaya as Rue Bennett in Euphoria

Euphoria Season 3 just dropped a brand new trailer, and the internet is eagerly awaiting the new season. HBO teased the new batch of episodes for April 12.

There’s been a massive time jump for Zendaya’s Rue and all of her friends. They’re not in high school anymore in Euphoria Season 3. The new trailer goes to great lengths to show off what Sam Levinson has planned for these young adults after the long layover since Season 2. If you’ve been online at all, you know that fans have been waiting for this day for literal years now.
