I really like E.C.R. Lorac. The British Library Crime Classics series has been reprinting her books, but unfortunately there are also many pirated editions floating around (she's not out of copyright yet in the US or UK, but is in Canada). I don't believe the British Library has done Death on the Oxford Road yet, so your library probably inadvertently bought a pirated copy.
