mrissa: (memories)

Those of you who read [livejournal.com profile] novel_gazing already know this, but I stuck the pictures from Thursday's visit to Gustavus over here.

They're the source of my new icon, which is my hand on the Kasota Stone of Wahlstrom Hall. I don't know if I'd call it a nostalgia icon, but certainly a past-centered or memory-centered one.

I did not manage to mow the damn lawn today. There's a lot of stuff I didn't manage to get done today, actually. Though I have been known to try to finish everything in the world at once, I probably would be distraught if I could manage it. Some of the things I intended to do, like watching "The Incredibles," really seemed like they ought to be manageable without too much undue stress. (On that particular point, it was the DVD player that disagreed. The wretched thing cost us $36 and has lasted a year and a half, so I suppose we shouldn't complain.)

My brain is finding projects under every rock lately. "You could start a --" No. "Oh, oh, you could do this thing that --" No. It's not that I'm short of stuff to do. Oh, trust me, it's not. It's that I'm antsy. I am mentally squirmy. If anyone has a remedy, I'd like to hear it.

When I get bombarded, I tell my brain I'll write some notes out for the project, but then I'm going back to the one I'm working on. And that's it. But my brain is pretty agreeable.

G'luck, dude. :S

I have lots of notes for lots of projects, and this time it doesn't seem to be enough.

I was thinking of giving my brain away to Goodwill, but I suspected that there were a few people who might miss it.

Hmm, yeah, that might be a problem.

(re)Start doing one of the projects and leave it sitting out where you can see it and sometimes work on it. That usually stops me from starting new projects. Unless I see a project totally vital to my continued existence like how to convert an optical mouse into a cryogenic chamber for a lego spacefigure.

See, many of the projects are things that can be done on the computer, which merely drives me nuts, rather than providing actual clutter. Mental clutter is much more difficult for me than physical clutter.
