After lo these many moons of drought, I've finally sold another story: On Spec wants "Carter Hall Recovers the Puck." They would like a little polish on the ending, and that's quite fine with me.

I knew I should send my hockey stories north. (For those of you who don't keep track of these things, On Spec is a Canadian quarterly.)

Oh, happy happy M'ris dance!

Yay M'ris! Go Carter! (Is there any Janet in this one?)

Yes, Janet and Tam are in all of Carter's stories so far. Well -- so far there aren't many of them. But this one comes between All Hallows (The True Tale of Carter Hall, in progress) and Midwinter ("Carter Hall Sweeps a Path," also in progress).

Congrats!

I was very cofused when I first read this post, as my brain automatically defined "puck" in the Shakespearian sense. This made the hockey sentence very strange indeed, until something turned over in my head. Very interesting how our brains are wired, heh.

That made one of us!

(More accurately, it probably made a couple dozen of you. Still. I described my mental state last night as "sitting on the edge of the Pit of Despair, kicking my feet.")

CONGRATULATIONS! Huzzah for M'ris! Angel was asking me just the other day "Does Marissa ever sell anything? All I ever see from her is 'another rejection slip...two more rejection slips...'" and I said "I'm sure she does. Hopefully soon she'll do it again." Way to go!

Angel is a wise woman: this is a much safer question to ask someone other than the writer herself. (I used to sell stories. My bibliography (http://www.marissalingen.com/bibleo.html) proves it. But it's been a looooooong drought.)

Woooo! Congrats! On Spec's a great market. :)

How long to response time from them?

Date: 2005-05-09 10:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mrissa.livejournal.com
Almost exactly six months. I submitted it 11/6, and I'd just highlighted it in red (out there six months) on my submission log when I got to go in and change the highlighting to blue (sold).
