I dreamed I was working happily at the rough draft of The Winter Wars. No, brain! Bad brain! No biscuit! It is not time for that book!

Sigh. Step one: finish "Singing Them Back." Step two: finish the Ilmarinen's awl story. Step three: work on revisions to Thermionic Night. Yah. That.

In other news, Melvin snuck up on me. (Melvin is the name of our laundry monster.) In addition to finding that everything was dirty all at once, we've found that we're supposed to wash pillows, blankets, and the duvet fairly often because of [livejournal.com profile] markgritter's allergies, so I've been wrassling wet pillows out of the washing machine. Wringing pillows is not my favorite thing ever, and I shudder to think of the duvet. (Not the duvet cover. The duvet. Oof.) But a less-snozzly Mark is a good thing, so.

I've done all the things on my "to do" list that were marked for Friday specifically, so I suppose that counts as a good thing. (One of the things I did was to reserve a room for World Fantasy. Who else is going?) I don't think it means I can just stop and crash now. Ah well.

I think you can get away with less frequent washings of the pillows themselves if you buy one of the dust-mite-proof pillow covers. IIRC, Irene found them at either Bed, Bath & Beyond or Target. All the sources about dust allergies have reported that they are wonderful things!

We will look into it. I'm not sure we'll be done washing bedding by the end of the night. We have backup bedding, but still.

Do you need a duvet this time of year?

My doctor once told me to wash the floors once a day. And to get rid of my roommate's cat. Not a helpful doctor.

I'm going to World Fantasy, I think. Haven't sent them money yet.

Yes, we need a duvet this time of year. The airflow and computer placement in this house mean that there is no temperature that will make every room comfortable in the same ways.

Ah, that makes sense.

My airflow means that all rooms are different degrees of too hot. :)

You can always take the duvet to the cleaners. It shouldn't need to be washed as often as the cover.

The allergy thing brings that up a bit more often, I'm afraid, so yes, not as often as the cover, but still rather often.

I second the -mite covers. I got one for the feather matress I was given last summer(bought the cover at Wally-world), and have been sleeping much better for it.

World Fantasy, yes! Still theoretically, of course, but I'm thinking I'm just going to commit to going and figure out all the details later. Yes. Now it's time to convince myself that this is a *good* plan, rather than just a plan to let me do what I want.

Yes! Commit first, ask questions later!
