Yews

Me: We lack yews!
[livejournal.com profile] timprov: [sweet smile]
Me: Did you hear the Mr. Man out front? He's already removed them all.
[livejournal.com profile] timprov: Oh! I thought you were just talking in a funny accent and saying you like me!

Well, I do like the Timprov. But I also lack yews, and this makes me happy. I hated those damn yews. (The Mr. Man is the landscaper, pulling out rocks, stump, and yews so we can plant things in our front planter.)

Do I feel good this morning? No. Do I feel better? Definitely. This is the point where increased swelling and warmth would mean infection, so it's nice to see it decreasing instead. I am still not drive-safe, and I'm not sure I'll be able to do anything more than the trivial stuff to the book. Mostly another nothing-much day. Still, that's expected, and progress is good.

Hey, those of you who have recently friended me (and anyone else who feels like it): can you please introduce yourself? I'd like to know who's reading (and how you got here/why you stayed, if you remember).

Can't remember if I have or not. I'm Cait - 39, working as an artist/graphic designer/writer in Kitchener, about an hour west of Toronto. Hoping to go back to grad school shortly for my MA and PhD in linguistics.

Oh, and there's some stuff about some self-changes I made once in my journal. ;)

You did introduce yourself early on, and I appreciated it!

happy lack of yews! A quick search reveals them as the tree of rebirth, so here's to hoping they stay dead and out of your planter.

I think all the construction on 494 will keep them away nicely.

I think I introduced myself before, but I'll do it again. I met you at ladysea's birthday party. And I went to GAC too. (Lived in Wahlstrom too... thanks for the info about its demise!)

Oh, and I read all of your short stories there were links to online. I can't wait to read more, more, more!!!

Oh, lobbying for "friendslist member of the week," are we? :) That is just exactly what I like to hear. Thank you very much.

Also, yes, I do remember you from [livejournal.com profile] ladysea's birthday.

I'm not sure I ever introduced myself, but I was aware of your existence through Mary Anne's journal (http://www.mamohanraj.com/Diary/diary.html) (though I don't know her) for a long time, and then saw you commenting at both [livejournal.com profile] misia and [livejournal.com profile] roane. Hm, it's possible that Karen (http://www.alyx.com/karen/te_index.html) mentioned you once or twice a long time ago, too, but I might be hallucinating, and I also might be hallucinating some tenuous connection you have with people from TooMUSH.

Anyway, you just kind of entered my consciousness enough and seemed interesting enough that there I was, friending you. The more I read, the more clear it becomes that I made a good choice.

...and now I feel a little bit like a stalker. Man, the internet is weird sometimes.

I met Karen a couple of times around the time I was starting up [livejournal.com profile] novel_gazing and she was finishing her journal, though I wouldn't say we're close, so no, you're not hallucinating.

I don't think that's stalkerish at all. I think it's how the internet works. It's certainly how I work on the internet. Most of the people I've friended back without introductions in the last few months have been people I recognized from comments elsewhere, or from the mass of Fandom Stories floating around.

I guess it makes sense. This is often how we meet people in the real world, through random connections and hearsay.

The internet is weird, but I do love it.

That's good; the pruning can get really annoying.

I don't think I've introduced myself before, sorry. My name's Rachael and I think I started reading Novel Gazing first, but can't remember how I found that or your journal. I've stayed because I love hearing about your books and stories and cooking and, well, pretty much just like the way you write about stuff and the stuff you write about. So thank you.

i have no idea if i ever introduced myself. knowing my natural tendency to lurk, prolly not. i used to go under the username junaras, back when i actually blogged; these days i'm sitting quiet and recovering from clarion. i think i probably found you through Bear or other OWW'ers when i first started the livejournal malarky? can't actually remember. stayed because i lack yews, or more specifically what yews write >;]

Heh. Thanks.

I did make the connection that you were the same person, I think. I hope your Clarion recovery goes well. Takes different times for different folks, I hear.
