[livejournal.com profile] markgritter and I are home safe, and so, I imagine, are my dad and my grandparents. My mom is safely installed in her hotel room.

I've been trying to stay up as late as possible, and I just caught up as much as I could on my friendslist. I'm blown away by how many people posted or e-mailed with concern about me while I was gone. That felt amazing. Thank you. (And those of you who didn't, I don't assume you didn't care: I know many of you had already gotten the news before you had the chance to worry, or felt that commenting wouldn't do any good.)

I think this time zone change thing has gone pretty smoothly on both ends of this trip, but you can ask me again in the morning.

There will be lots more to follow, but not tonight.

Exactly; I logged in, saw you were fine, and that was good. I had many more people to check on. Thank goodness they were all fine, too.

It sounds like my west coast friends and relations were mostly lucky on this one: it happened early enough that most of them (/you) got the news of okayness about the same time as the news of the event.
