I posted this on someone else's journal, but it was a locked post, so:

The game where you type in "_____ is" is not so much fun for me: I'm the M'ris. There's one other who is a Pern fanfic character. Otherwise it's me.

I was quite amused by the first result for "Marissa is," though:
marissa is a beautiful brunette with a perfect but

I don't mean to brag, but I do have a very nice but. On a par with my or, better than my and.

Color me both pedantic and easily amused.

Oh, I wonder if I have nice conjunctions. Do you do that on Google?

Yep, or the search engine of your choice. (I suppose there are others somewhere....)

LOL...the second result for Mia is just perfect...

"Mia: Is she for real? What's real?"

How friggin appropriate.

Google gives me Antarctic Muon and Neutrino Detector Array: AMANDA.

And The Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver, but that's not as cool as neutrinos.

I'm sitting here thinking of "If" by Bread (a song) and *If* (a movie). Can one compare "Ifs" or must it be an "if/then" to be truly comparable? (Note: The language Russian contains a conjunction midway between "and" and "but". Does one have to be Russian to have this conjunction, or do the rest of us have it, too, and just not know how to express it/describe it?)

I think it may be like the contradictory yes in French: we may stumble over the content involved and get confused over who's saying what.

(I love the contradictory yes. It's the answer to contradict a question that's been phrased in the negative, and it seems to take the place of "No you aren't going or no you are going?"-type conversations.

Although since I just rewatched "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead," I'm feeling warm and fuzzy about linguistic ambiguity, or at least more so than usual.
