Robin in the hospital
Jan. 5th, 2008 10:48 pmSome of you know
porphyrin and her family personally. For those who don't, these are some of our dearest friends, specifically our godson Robin. I just got off the phone with
porphyrin, who said that I should make a short post to notify their friends who had not already heard this news, so if you know someone who knows
porphyrin and not me, please point them here:
Robin had an accident today that severely hurt his left eye. He was taken in for surgery, and the surgeons were able to save the globe of the eye. He will be in the hospital for at least a few more days. We don't have any information yet about what level of vision there will be in that eye. His daddy is staying overnight with him. He was groggy coming out of anaesthetic and wanted to go home, but we do know that he's out of the anaesthetic now, so there are no worries there. (Maybe I'm the only one who fusses when they have to use anaesthetic on someone that little. I don't know.)
He and his parents and sister had the support of
matastas and
dlandon today and tonight, and we are all so glad they could be there and do so much good when it so needed doing. We will be heading up to see all of them tomorrow, so if you'd like me to pass on messages, I can do that, from comments here or from e-mail to my gmail account, marissalingen.
We are so glad and grateful that he had good and prompt care and that they could save the eye, and we'll be hoping from the best from here on out. I don't have a lot of other information about the details here. I will post more if I know more and
porphyrin wants me to, or she will eventually get to the point where she knows more and has a spare moment to post herself; I don't expect that to be very soon, though.
(It has been a rather fraught evening here waiting by the phone, and I will not feel right until I have been able to hug our best little guy again. But tomorrow. Definitely tomorrow.)
ETA:
porphyrin did have a chance to post after I left the computer for the evening last night.
