mrissa: (grandpa)
Sporadic access to internet here, but I do have some. I've been trying to figure out what to say with it. I arrived safely, but the trip totally kicked my butt. We still hate vertigo. Bleh. Despite the vertigo, I did do at least one helpful thing other than being a morale-booster: the one thing Grandpa has been willing to eat today was something I brought. (Freeze-dried mangoes from Trader Joe's FTW. Thanks for introducing me to them, [livejournal.com profile] elisem.) Also, I had totally forgotten that the minute Grandpa gets into the hospital, he starts talking about how much better he feels. Yep! Totally better now! Definitely better! We cannot imagine how much better! Even after he had a really rough night last night and scared us this afternoon: better better better! So on the one hand, we can't really fault his positive attitude. On the other hand, we have maybe a tiny little familial issue with minimizing our medical stuff...maybe...just a little....

I wrote a thousand words of new story, "Carter Hall and the Motley Lions," on the laptop this morning before we went to the hospital. Also before I remembered that it's Sunday and supposed to be my day off. It was an effective distraction, though, so I'm not worrying too much about it.

I had forgotten how quickly determined Nebraskan sledders sled the hills into mud after a big snow.

I am rereading Brokedown Palace, but that'll be done soon.
