Alec ([livejournal.com profile] alecaustin) and I just sold our first collaborative story, "Brief Interviews With Therianthropes," to Daily Science Fiction. Sound horns bang drums!

[livejournal.com profile] timprov and I were talking about a webcomic we both read, and he had spotted that its creator seems to use a particular method of getting out of a jam: character redesign. Every time the comic seems to be painted into a corner or going nowhere, one of the characters gets redesigned. "It's like the guy coming in with the gun," he said.

"Writers should collect those," I said. "Different guys with guns for different circumstances. Because more ways to get yourself out of a jam are always useful."

And so I tell you now.
