Two rejections, two requests for more material on various projects. Could be worse.

While I didn't celebrate National Drunken Writing Night last night, I can tell you that it is not always a bad idea to drink wine older than oneself. Or at least wine older than myself.

I am exhausted, and the pup is not helping. I will be so glad when her stitches come out Wednesday. The difference between letting her out in the yard and taking her out in the yard is a pretty big one. I know this from when we first had the fence, but still, it's frustrating for both/all of us.

It is sixty degrees here. Sixty! This is unreasonable. I live in Minnesota, and it is almost November. Sixty! Oh, the unfairness of the world.

Now that I have walnuts, I will make bars (some of which will get frozen so that they are still fresh later in the week), and I will make lasagna, and I will crash and read Issola. This is my grand plan: things in the oven, Issola. I have had more than one tempting invitation for the evening, all of which are probably going to go by the wayside. I will see how much resistance it takes to keep from working on a project I'm Not Working On. If lots, I'll probably throw some words at it out of sheer exhaustion. These things happen when one gets tired.

Okay, I've been trying to figure this one out, but what are bars? Food, clearly. But... Like granola bars?

Think lemon bars.

If you've never encountered a lemon bar before, it's a brownie-like pastry with solid lemony filling inside it. "Bars" is the category of foodstuff of which lemon bars are a subset, although I believe that Mris produces them in a wide variety of types and flavors.

I've *heard* of lemon bars before. Never had the pleasure of trying one.

It sounds good though!

*tummy rumbles*

Sometimes it makes me cry at night.

I can see why! It may make me cry tonight, and I've even had lemon bars.

Oh dear. [livejournal.com profile] sosostris2012 had this problem as well.

Bars are like brownies, but more varied: brownies are a subset of bars. You can have bomber bars, lemon bars, banana bars, strawberry lemon cheesecake bars, Hello Dolly bars, My Stars bars, Scotcheroos, Rice Krispie bars...bars. They are sweet food, usually solid enough to eat without a fork, denser than cake, made in a rectangular pan. They are the basic Upper Midwestern dessert. They are very little fuss for very much reward.

When this comes up, I tend to say that the gods only eat ambrosia in southern climes. Up here, bars are the food of the gods.

I am *so* moving in with you.

And bringing the ferrets.

Hope you don't mind. *grin*

Hee. [livejournal.com profile] missista is not too interested in ferrets, I'm afraid.

As I said, they're very little fuss. Less than cookies, even.
