Minnesota hazing?
Jun. 21st, 2004 05:04 pmWe went to the Hidden Falls park. We walked as far north as the fence that marks the park boundary and a goodly ways south (past the MN River junction). At one point, Kev said, in his best Westley voice, "Hidden Falls? I don't believe they exist." But none came leaping out of the trees to wrestle him. Which is probably just as well, as there were no flame spurts for him to roll the falls upon and thus defeat them.
Still. Awfully darn hidden if you ask me.

Date: 2004-06-21 05:39 pm (UTC)The only time I've actually been there was when we were filming War For The Oaks that summer, and I don't remember how to get to the falls. But I've got quicktime video of the movie "trailer" with footage from there in it on my computer.
I wouldn't think they'd be dry just now.

Date: 2004-06-21 08:22 pm (UTC)I said to Kev, "I don't know the person who recommended these falls personally, but David provided the map link. I can't help but think that if there weren't actually falls, David would have at least indicated in some subtle way that there weren't any. Or else I've misjudged his sense of humor." I'm glad to be right. It was hot and mosquito-y.
Nonetheless, we walked all the way to the north end of the park, and a good ways of the southern bit, too, and found only one stream that emptied into the river at all, and it was low, flat, and stagnant up to the grate that took it under the park boundary road. Maybe we needed to go the rest of the way south to find the right creek....
