They say that plans do not survive first contact with the enemy. Apparently this is even true when there is no enemy. So the revised list for before I leave is:

MUST DO BEFORE LEAVING FOR OMAHA:
--bank
--prepare Sampo and other stuff to pack to take with
--pack for Omaha
--set aside clothes for Milwaukee to facilitate packing upon return Monday
--find Christmas stockings in mess that is basement
--grocery shopping for timprov for while markgritter and I are gone
--Target: exchange bookshelf for unbroken version of same, other small items
--resolve state of timprov bedframe question
--call snow removal guy to clarify current/desired state of driveway
--Wed. Afternoon: household maintenance appt.
--Wed. Evening: dinner with people what loves me
--timprov appointment: call to cancel
--prepare trash and recycling for absence

WOULD BE NICE/USEFUL TO DO BEFORE LEAVING FOR OMAHA:
--balance checkbook
--write to Mindy
--deep-condition hair
--remove broken chair from living room
--file papers in filing cabinet in the mess that is the basement
--finish "Scribing a Line"
--check credit card statement
--contact homeowners' insurance company about thingy in letter

"current/desired state of driveway." Love it. I'm also glad to hear you're not going to be shoveling it all by yourself before going to the doctor to be treated for your fatigue. :-)

Heh. What I mean is, our driveway is half done, and I don't want him to look at that and say, oh, they only want that one side cleared. If I have to pay him a little extra the first time he clears for us to take care of that, it'll be fine with me. I just want use of the full driveway for the winter.

Getting a Nice Man to take care of the driveway is a good idea for you, I think. And making sure he understands what you want and has bid accordingly is only fair.

Our particular Nice Man was amused that I was calling to clarify and said that he had no intention of charging me extra for anything I mentioned.
