It is time for the people I love to stop having shitty stuff happen to them for just a little while. No health problems, no family arguments, no romantic entanglements gone all knotted, no school struggles, no work idiocies, no artistic woes, no deeply difficult decisions, no political evils, no technology wonkiness, no home repairs, no car accidents, no missing loved ones, no feeling helpless, no long stupid meetings, no losing their keys, no back spasms, no toe stubbing, no running out of milk halfway over a bowl of cereal, no oranges gone bad in the bottom of the kid's backpack. Just no more, okay universe? Just for a little bit.

Now watch: everybody I love will have an absolutely stellar quarter of an hour between 3:30 and 3:45 a.m., their local time, and most of them will be asleep, and the ones who are awake will not have reason to notice that they played three perfect games of solitaire, their ice water didn't taste of rust, and the printer didn't jam.

I'm so tired. Almost everyone I know is so tired, too. On the up side, I have more good people to love and worry about than any one woman could expect. That really does count for something.

Kat dear, if you didn't have a perfectly wonderful quarter-hour, it's not from lack of me wanting it for you.

YAY!

Really my own Friday evening was quite nice aside from being overtired; it featured a silly movie, and people I love who love me back, and also German food with plenty upon plenty of mushrooms in it. It was mostly coming back to read lj and having to meep at some of the stuff in my friends' lives.

i would settle for 15 minutes of goodness while i was asleep. i would so settle.

did january suck this much last year? i mean, i was basically in a coma last january, due to getting ready for the divorce, but other than the bit where i too frequently pondered how much you have to cry before you throw up i don't recall it sucking this badly.

That's some large-scale suckage for you, yes, and I hope it doesn't get anywhere near that bad this year. But that's the thing about last January: it had awful bits for various people, but I don't recall this broad-spectrum suckage.

I can't say December looked a lot better, though. It just seems like a lot of people I know are going through some pretty rough times.

Ditto. I realized how many absurd things have happened to me and those I love this autumn. Everytime I think things have let up, something else happens.

I had a stellar Saturday. Worked in the kitchen on a four-course feast for 456 from 10 to 6; didn't burn or cut myself, didn't ruin anything, didn't dropo a dish. The kitchen was harmonious, the food turned out well, and afterwards there was a good night's sleep. Thanks for the well-wishing!
