Balance

I am hungry and tired and still slightly dizzy and seem to be having a string of dysosmia events all in the unpleasant direction. (While it is disturbing to smell, for example, fresh-cut grass where no fresh-cut grass exists, it is much, much worse to smell burning rubber, to take one of the examples that has assailed me in the last half-hour.)

Also, people are not very good about returning my calls right now.

Also, I am extremely discouraged, but not because of any specific event. Just discouraged.

One of you said she'd like to hear my thoughts on balance. Heh. I said that if I ever figured it out, I would let her know. I do think it's important for me to balance things like work and play, alone time and togetherness, agreement and argument, revision and new drafts, adult and YA, novels and short stories, hope and realism. I am doing it by guess and by gosh, though, and if any of you have magic words for me, I'm really up for them.

"Go eat something" doesn't count in the magic words category: I'm already going to do that.

I can well imagine you'd be feeling discouraged! Those dysosmia events are bizarre, to say the least, and dizziness is never fun.

It's stressful to have things not be working right, stressful in itself, even when huge swathes of ugly possible causes have been mown down by the righteous scythe of science. I'd be discouraged too.

I wish I had magic words, but will have to settle for wishing you health and courage and any other good things you'd like. Hang in there.

Silly Mrissa. All words are magic.

Take care of you.

Oh great. Now you have me singing Paul Simon: "Some stories are magical, meant to be song, songs from the mouth of the river when the world was young...."

This is why I say I am the most earwormable person I know: because you don't even have to use a phrase that's in an actual song to get me earwormed with it.
